A mini break to the Northumberland Coast, booked immediately after watching the latest Macbeth Film! If you haven't already seen the film (it's gloomy and great), I would recommend that you do and maybe it will inspire you to visit too. We had every hope of the sun shining but realistically knew Northumberland is generally foggy and wet in Autumn. Alas, we were lucky enough to visit Alnwick treehouse and Bamburgh Castle in glorious weather. A fabulous stroll along the beach and wander through the dunes made us ready for our food in the evening. I am also ashamed to say this was the first time I have ever had a Barnsley chop, it was delicious, and should certainly have had one in Barnsley before now! We were staying in a cosy shepherds hut with Dark Sky gazing so made the most of a clear sky to see the stars. The next few days lived up to the on screen shots of the coast as it was very moody and foggy but didn't stop us getting out and enjoying the mist. A visit to Corbridge on the way home for Bakewell tarts and my favourite quirky shop RE finished off our Northumberland getaway.
